The library offers active lending services to its patrons. A state-of-the-art system has been deployed in the library to keep users updated with the status of their transactions through regular renewal and overdue reminders.
The ITU Library introduced self-check circulation services for the ITU community. Library users are able to perform circulation transactions i.e. checkout, check-in and renewal of library material without any intervention of library staff. This service will help to reduce the transaction time as well as bring more accuracy and transparency in circulation operations.
Reference and Research section of the library offers following research support services to its prospective users.
Library facilitates its patrons in searching for relevant literature to support their academic and research endeavors
The library facilitates ITU faculty’s access to online plagiarism detection and management software Turnitin. The library also provides similarity reports and certificates according to HEC rules for final thesis and projects.
The purpose of this service is to provide the prospective users, some selective and specific information related to their specific area/s of interest. Research journals, magazines, newspaper and other online resources are explored regularly to find out the relevant items which are conveyed to the relevant researchers.
Library facilitates researchers, faculty and students of the university in managing their citations/bibliographies. For this purpose, we are exploiting commercial as well as free-of-cost citation management tools. These tools include End Note, Mendeley, Ref Works and Zotero. Library also provides hands-on training to effectively utilize these resources.

If a book or other item is not available in the library, we have special arrangements to acquire that item from other libraries through Inter-Library loan.
The library has a special arrangement with the international documents supply centers. If a journal article is not available within library holdings or online databases, the library can get its electronic copy. The electronic document delivery service is restricted to research projects only.
The library provides instructional programs to patrons for maximum usage of library resources and services. These include orientation programs, hands-on trainings, in-class sessions, workshops and seminars on various instructional, research tools including Turntin, Endnote, SPSS, and also on the use of various electronic databases.
Photocopying and printing machines are available in the library. Latest digital scanners have been made available at the 6th and 4th floors of the library for scanning of library materials by library/copyright rules.
Library has established a finishing corner equipped with an electric stapler, pencil sharpener, and hole puncher machine to support the users for on-spot finishing support and submission of assignments, research papers, and projects. A mobile charging point has been established in the library which allows patrons to charge their devices conveniently.
Wireless connectivity to the internet is available on the library. Patrons can use their laptops and
avail this net service.
Library owns a significant number of digital resources. An institutional repository/digital library has been established to provide full text online access to library’s digital resources including electronic books, faculty research, student thesis and presentations.
ITU library publishes a Monthly Library Bulletin which showcase the intellectual output of the university. It contains research publication of the university during the month along with list of newly acquired books and table of contents of research journals. It also includes book reviews, print and social media coverage of the university.
Readers and members shall not damage, mark or write upon any book, periodical, nor shall hey trace or perform mechanical reproduction of any material belonging to the Library Without written permission of the chief librarian. Readers and members who violate this Regulation shall be required to pay the fine imposed by the chief librarian or to replace the damaged material, or to pay its price as determined by the chief librarian. If one volume of a set is injured and it is not available separately, the whole set shall have to be replaced or paid for. A damaged book or set, which has been replaced or paid for by a Borrower, shall become his property.
- Borrowers and readers are advised to inspect books at the time of issue and to call the Attention of the Circulation Librarian to any defects.
- Leave your personal belongings such as handbags, briefcases, etc., outside the library entrance, on your own responsibility. The library disclaims any liability for loss or damage
- After reading, leave books on the table Please do not shelve the books.
- Complete silence should be observed except for brief and subdued talk with the library staff
- Drinks and eatables are not allowed in the library.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the library.
- Keep your mobiles Silent within the library premises.
